Incident 042/2025

Friday 20th June 2025 at 11.20hrs the rescue Team were contacted by the North West Ambulance Service to attend to a climbing accident at Trowbarrow quarry, Silverdale.

The incident involved 2 climbers, the lead climber falling 6 meters with dislodged rock falling onto the belayer.

A 58 year-old male sustained an open fracture of the left shin, the second climber also a male sustained broken ribs and he had shin and foot injuries.

Team members, along with members of Kendal SMRT evacuated the climbers off the boulders to safety and handed them over to the North West Ambulance Service Paramedics.

20 volunteer mountain rescuers from 2 teams were involved in this rescue which took 4 hours to complete, we wish both injured climbers a speedy recovery and wish them all the very best for the future.
