Tuesday 8th September at 20:00hrs the rescue Team were requested by the North West Ambulance Service to attend to a 16-year-old male who had fallen from his mountain bike, injuring his should and back.
Once on scene, along with Paramedics it was determined that the young man had potentially broken his collar bone and had injured his spine. Considering the injuries, the young casualty was placed in our vacuum mattress and then was carried on our mountain rescue Bell stretcher across rough ground to the land ambulance. He was then re-assessed and transported by road to Southport hospital.
17 volunteers of Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team attended this incident, we wish the young man and family who were also present a speedy recovery and hopefully he will be back on his feet and bike soon.
