Incident 007/2026

Saturday 28th February 2026

Whilst on winter training in Cairngorm, the team were approached by another walker to say that another walker had fallen over on the path further up the hill and was in significant pain to both arms.

One of our Team members, in this case our Team Doctor conducted an assessment of the injured casualty, with injuries identified as left wrist and a right shoulder injury.

The left wrist was splinted and the right shoulder supported into a sling. The casualty was then placed into a team Blizzard bag and was then stretchered off the mountain.

As our rescue team members only had limited medical equipment due to our training activity, the local Ski Patrol were contacted to support with evacuation of the casualty as she was feeling dizzy and with the pain score increasing, it was in the casualties’ interest to have as much assistance as possible, she was then taken on the Ski Patrol snowmobile for further examination and treatment.

18 volunteers of Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team were involved in this rescue and wish the casualty a speedy and quick recovery.
