Incident 003/2023

The rescue Team were requested by Lancashire Police to assist with an ongoing search for a missing 30-year-old male who had absconded from the Police and had entered the River Ribble in an attempt to escape their custody. Described as non violent and with the Police losing visual contact whilst he was in the river, there was concern for his safety as he was in the water being swept away.

The rescue Team were requested to search the river bank, however, during the search, he was located safe, but suffering from Hypothermia. 

He was then treated by Team members and North West Ambulance Service crews at which point, after 5 hours searching, the rescue Team stood down.

26 volunteers of Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team were involved in this search.
