On Sunday 19th April 2026, the rescue team were called by Lancashire Police to assist with an ongoing search for a vulnerable 71-year-old male who was missing from home.
It was thought he could be in the Whittle-le-Woods area so our rescue team joined other services to carry out search activities throughout the day.
Unfortunately, some days later the missing person was located outside the search area deceased.
18 volunteers of Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue were involved in this search which took over 8 hours.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased during this very sad time.
