At 04.45 hrs on Tuesday 23rd August 2022, the team was contacted by Lancashire Constabulary to assist with a high risk missing person search in the Yarrow Park/Birkacra area.
The missing person, a 34-year-old male from the Blackpool area had been reported as missing and vulnerable since late the previous day.
With the assistance and help of our neighbours and colleagues Bolton MRT and Rossendale & Pendle MRT, mountain rescuers searched a huge expanse of wooded, uneven ground which would have been almost impossible to effectively search with Police resources.
With Mountain Rescue on scene from 07.00 hrs, at approximately 11.30 hrs we had the information that our high risk missing person was located safe and well, but outside of the search areas.
