Incident 004/2021

On Sunday 3rd January 2021 late afternoon as incident 003/2021 at Worden Park had been completed, Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team (BPMRT) received another request from the North West Ambulance Service to attend Abbey Village for a 37 year old male who had injured himself while sledging on the steep ground next to Roddlesworth Reservoirs. At first there was some confusion as to the exact location of the incident, however after a period of time we managed to determine his exact location by using the Mountain Rescue search facility iFind by pinging his mobile phone. Once on scene, we were joined by the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and by using our rope rescue equipment, we extracted the casualty up the steep bank to safety. The casualty was treated at the scene for back and knee injuries and once transferred into an ambulance he was taken to Preston Royal Infirmary for further evaluation and care.
