Incident 051/2022

On Monday afternoon, the 17th October 2022 the rescue team were requested by the North West Ambulance Service to assist the Air Ambulance with a 79-year-old male who had fallen 20 ft down a bank and landed on his shoulder and back and couldn’t move.

With the Helimed crew and NWAS Ambulance team first on the scene we were requested to assist to extract the gentleman.

Once our casualty had been stabilised he was placed in a vacuum mattress and then a mountain rescue Bell stretcher before being transported to a land ambulance for onward transport to Royal Preston Hospital.

The Helimed Crew and the team treated the casualty for shoulder and neck injuries which were later confirmed as a fractured right humerus and right-side rib fractures.
