We were requested by the North West Ambulance Service to assist with a 26-year-old female who had fallen whilst out walking in the Fairy Glen area of Appley Bridge. The 26 year-old, who has Cerebral Palsy disability was unable to get up after falling.

The rescue Team were quickly on scene, although this area is at the far southern part of our operational area, Team members quickly made a medical assessment and determined our casualty had a potential leg and ankle break.

Once all our rescue equipment had arrived in our mountain rescue ambulance Landrover, the casualty had her leg splinted and placed into our casualty bag and then stretched off by Team members. Once we were at a suitable place where vehicles could access, she was then transferred into her families car where she was taken to Wigan hospital for further care.

Post incident it has been confirmed our 26-year-old casualty has broken her ankle and leg, as always, we wish her a speedy recovery and all the best from the rescue Team.
