Incident 046/2026
Wednesday 21st October at 11.55hrs, the rescue Team were requested by the North West Ambulance Service to attend to a 75 year-old male fell runner who had fallen crossing a 5 bar gate. Early reported injuries were an injured shoulder.
With Team members arriving and a primary survey being made, it was clear the injuries were more substantial. After further examination a laceration to the head was found and tenderness along his C spine. With the casualty having early symptoms of Hypothermia and with a very high pain score, the team placed the fell runner in our Vacuum mattress before transferring him onto our mountain rescue stretcher.
The Team then moved the casualty across fields to an awaiting ambulance and was then taken to hospital.
15 volunteers of Bowland Pennine Mountain Team were involved in this rescue which took 4 hours to complete.
We wish our casualty a speedy recovery and hopefully he will be oit running again soon.
