Incident 021/2023

On Saturday 20th May 2023, our rescue Team was requested to assist the Air Ambulance and the North West Ambulance Service for an injured cyclist who had fallen into a roadside ditch/stream. The cyclist was reported to have neck, facial and leg injuries and was 3 metres down an embankment.

Our rescue team, along with the Paramedics stabilised our casualty then safely extricated him to safety up the bank using a simple rope system and our mountain rescue Bell stretcher.

We then handed our casualty over to the Paramedics who re-assessed and transported him to hospital.

We wish our casualty a speedy recovery and hopefully he will be back out and about very soon.

15 volunteers of Bowland Pennine MRT contributed to this rescue that lasted just over 2 hours.
