Incident 013/2026
Saturday 11th April at 13.41hrs the rescue Team were requested by Lancashire Police to assist with a 25-year-old female who had fallen whilst out walking in the Dunsop Bridge area.
With Team members responding, we used modern mapping called SARLOC to determine the position which was by the river near Thorneyholme Hall. Team members were quickly on scene departing from our HQ at Smelt Mil and assessed her injuries which were a deformed and sprained ankle, along with early signs of Hypothermia.
Once the injury was immobilised she was placed on our mountain rescue Bell stretcher and carried along the river bank path to an awaiting ambulance and transferred into the care of Paramedics who had arrived.
We wish the injured female a quick and speedy recovery and hope she, along with her husband are out and about soon.
11 volunteers of Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team were involved in this incident which took just over 4 hours to complete.
