Incident 043/2023

On Sunday 24th September 2023, just as the rescue team were finishing the 3 Peaks Cyclo Cross event cover, a request from the North West Ambulance Service came in at 3.50pm to attend to a 56-year-old female who had been walking and fallen in the Fairy Glen area near Appley Bridge.

Team members were quickly on scene and assessed our casualty with a dislocation of the ankle. With resources low on the call out, we called our neighbours Bolton Mountain Rescue Team to attend and assist with the incident.

Once our casualty was suitably packed up on our mountain rescue Bell stretcher, both mountain rescue teams carried her out of the wooded area to a suitable road point and handed over to the land ambulance.

11 Bowland Pennine and 8 Bolton Mountain rescue team volunteers were involved in this rescue and we wish our casualty a speedy recovery.
