Saturday 1st August during the later stages of the Borrowdale fell race, Bowland Pennine were involved in our second incident of the day when we were requested by Keswick MRT to attend to a 64-year-old male competitor runner who had collapsed near Honister slate mine with a medical incident.
With Team members manning the checkpoint nearby, we assisted members of Keswick MRT until the Air Ambulance arrived. The male runner was examined and then flown by Air Ambulance to the nearest hospital for further medical assistance.
We wish the casualty a healthy recovery and wish him all the very best for the future.
Part of Bowland Pennine MRT objectives is giving something back into the community, along with hands on operational experience the Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team has supported the Borrowdale fell race for 50 years.
