Incident 004/2023

On Saturday 14th January 2023, at 1.30pm the rescue Team were were requested by the North West Ambulance Service to attend to a fallen 59-year-old female who had fallen at the downside of Nicky Nook near Grize Dale reservoir.

With team members quickly on scene, it was determined that the injuries included a potential broken left ankle. With mild pain relief given and the injury splinted with a small vacuum splint, the casualty was placed on our mountain rescue Bell stretcher and carried to one of our team vehicles, where she was then transferred into a driven to the location of the land ambulance.

Our casualty was then transferred over into the hands of the Ambulance Service were she was re-assessed and then taken into Preston Royal Infirmary.

Post incident – It has been confirmed the left ankle is broken in 5 places. As always, we wish our casualty a speedy and healthy recovery.

The rescue operation took 3 hours and involved 22 volunteers of Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team.
