Incident 012/2022

We were requested by Lancashire Police to attend to an Incident where a Paraglider has fallen approximately 40 feet after his wing snapped, sending the aircraft down onto the fell at Parlick.

The team were on scene within 35 minutes of the initial call with some team members living close by in the Chipping area. Once on scene, along with Helimed Paramedics and a passing Doctor who had been out walking, the casualty was treated for his injuries.

Due to the fact the incident was on steep ground, just west of the summit at Parlick, a Coastguard S92 helicopter was requested so we could winch the casualty to safety, thus avoiding the movement across rough ground.

Once the Coastguard had arrived, the casualty was packaged into our vacuum mattress and then winched into the aircraft on our Mountain rescue bell stretcher, he was then flown into Preston Royal Infirmary so his injuries could be treated.

The rescue Team had 22 Team members involved and 2 Mountain rescue Landrover Ambulances.
